Infantry Tactics and Bayonet Exercise by George W. Patten is one of several independent publications intended for Militia and Volunteer units. It is remarkable only for its clear illustrations of musket drill. The bayonet methods are a condensed version of McClellan's system of 1852. They ultimately derive from the French bayonet systems of the day.
What is notable in Patten's illustrations is use of the sword bayonet.
