The training system used by Soviet troops was developed by a Captain Bolochko. The actual techniques are identical; to those in the partisan's manual. Soviet bayonet technique was based on Bayonet Fencing. Several of those techniques are clearly illustrated here.
Guard stance for rifle and for submachine gun Parry to the left and down, then thrust. Targets made of bundled straw or twigs. Training for fighting in trenches. Training against a padded pole. In this exercise, the soldier trains to deflect the pole, and to strike
the bundled target. Pairing off to practice bayonet fencing Training against pole and bundle on a stick. Soldier in
foreground is using a PPsH submachine gun. Knife training against bundled targetss. The knife is held like
an icepick. Knife training in trenches. A typical Russian defense against knife attack. Practicing kick and palm heel strike against heavy
bags.

Disclaimer: the bayonet methods shown here are for illustrative purposes only. They are not intended as actual instruction in bayonet fighting and should not be used as such. Bayonet training is dangerous. It can be as dangerous for the user as it is for the target. If you wish to learn close combat, seek a qualified instructor. One should never attempt close combat without the instruction and supervision of a qualified expert instructor .
