US Drill 1970 - Present


Shades of Fort Dix!  This is the current drill.  Look familiar? Almost everything is the same.  The differences are a few adjustments for the M16 rifle. That means the drill of "Inspection Arms."  Current drill makes more use of Sling Arms than in the past.  I know this drill well, because it was what we learned at Fort Dix in `72.

A note on the pictures below.  Several show the process of assuming a position.  Numbers 3, 4, 5, 6 ,7 and 9 show the steps: the last image in each is the position.

The current drill used a 30 inch step.  The marching pace is 120 steps per minute
