Infantry Patrolling

The patrol is a small unit sent out to look for signs of the enemy.  A patrol can be a routine activity, or a special patrol can have a specific goal such as taking a prisoner, looking into a particular place, etc.  Normally the patrol size is that of an infantry squad. These techniques from the 1941 manaul are still valid.

The patrol halts, perhaps to observe from a good position.  Note scouts on all flanks using cover and concealment.

The method for approaching and checking out a building.

Crossing a stream -almost the same as crossing a road.

Patrolling on the streets - men keep to sides of street.
