Spy Troops: Images

I have attempted to give an idea of the more common sort of enemy troops seen in spy movies.  Using a stock illustration, eight figures have been replicated.  In movies, the uniforms may be embellished with epaulettes, collar tabs, piping, and cap insignia.  Much was replica German materials which were relatively common in the 1960s. By comparison. genuine Communist insignia was hard to get and expensive to replicate. The actual uniforms were acquired locally in army-navy stores.  They were a blend of military surplus and work uniforms.

Berlin Gray

Used by Herald to replicate enemy troops

Blue

A common color for work clothes, security and police uniforms.

IMF Enemy Officer

Note collar tabs, epaulettes and piping on lapels. Red And white colors were common because they stood out on camera.  Red also implied "communists."  Uniforms could also be shades of grey or dark, odd shades of green.

Orange Jumpsuit

Usually plain orange.  Epaulettes used in a few Sci Fi / Spy movies.  The Air Force had switched from its orange jumpsuits to less conspicuous colors, hence these were military surplus.

Thrush Gray

Light-Medium Gray jumpsuit, black beret.  Officers have plain braided silver epaulette.  The Thrush uniforms were work clothes.

Thrush Dark Green

Dark green uniforms, similar to Tamiya's "Black Green".  Black beret, silver braided epaulettes for officers.

Yellow / Tan

A yellowish tan often shows up in movies where the villain's cadre are Asians.  Implied resemblance to World War II Japanese Army

Khaki Tan

Khaki tan is a popular color.  May use a black beret, khaki field cap or as illustrated above, helmet with markings.  Any resemblance to Military Police is often intentional.
