The Nine Day Class

An Exercise in Attainment

Lesson 9 - the power of example

You have had an interesting journey these past nine days. Now comes the lesson that never ends. With it is the work that keeps working. Through developing your strengths and taking the initiative, your influence will extend beyond your own situation. People who have made themselves meritable have a wider influence. That will include you!

Once you begin to experience the benefits of this greater life, your vision expands. You seek to do more and achieve more. Some of your desires come within reach. Other desires change for the better, and their attainment is all the more fulfilling. If you continue to work on yourself, developing strengths and eliminating weaknesses, you become more alive and more successful in life.

The first part of this lesson is simple: to keep working on yourself and maintain the positive principles you have learned. By continual, positive effort you not only maintain yourself, but you continue to improve. The course may end, but your life goes on and with it, so do these positive principles.

The next part of the lesson may surprise you.

As you become a more capable, confident and honest individual, you will invariably come to the attention of others. People look to those who are more successful. They can sense it. As you know, people project the type of person they are. It shows in how they behave. It can be sensed by others who get close. Think of it as radiating a message.

As you become more, you will likely think of your impact on others. A healthy, successful, confident person is a tremendous power of example. Whether you realize it at the time, others will notice you. They will be intrigued by your self-assured nature and positive manner.

Here is where you can do great good or great harm. There are leaders who rely on titles and grades. Then there are leaders whose innate nature makes them so. That would be you. All of your work to improve yourself makes you the kind of person to whom others gravitate. Your example will be a positive cue to others, so make it a GOOD one.

While some may lead merely by example, others may feel called to a more active leadership role. It may be in your job, your neighborhood or your social life. A promotion, membership on a neighborhood committee, election to a leadership role in your club...any or more of these may come your way. If it is within Paganism, you may be called to teach, to lead a group or to officiate at rites. Those who feel called to active leadership are in a very visible position. They combine leadership skills with their power of example. A good leader always puts his best foot forward. He leads by good decision and a good example.

You are now growing into a place where you can attain and succeed. If you persist, you will become a person who inspires and leads. Should that happen, remember that you earned it through diligence, initiative and persistent effort.

Today, the world is a better place because you are in it. Tomorrow, the world is even better because you also get better.

Meditation: think of the many connections you have with Life. Think of the people, places and things you touch. Ponder the people in your world and your impact on them. Look at this great set of connections. See yourself at the center of them, radiating and affecting all around you. know that you are at the center of your life. All these things have YOU in common. Imagine yourself radiating positive energy toward them all. Inwardly, feel yourself as a center of good that extends to all around you. See these all improving as a result of being connected to you.

Thought for the Day: I am ever aware that as I gain in all that is good, so I am a beacon to all around me. I accept my growing good, knowing that it extends to all. The world is truly a better place because I am in it.
