Work with Your Magick

“Stinko” was a genuine spellbook commando. He had some innate talent but very little understanding. Rather than develop himself, he spent it all trying various spells. The man had quite a collection of these books.

“Stinko” had been laid off from his job, and was seeking another one. He did office work The befuddled spellcaster spent many an hour and a few dollars and candles and spell ingredients to support his search. However, the search remained fruitless. The real reason was not a lack of ability ro credentials. The reason was that Stinko stunk. He was so convinced of his magickal ability that he went to interviews as casually as could be. One whiff of Stinko the Unwashed and the interview was over.

Queen Pest wanted a better position and more pay. She tried using spellcraft to improve her chances. Her other behavior did not change at all. Queen Pest’s attendance record was marred by a chronic penchant for lateness. Half the time the boss needed her, she was downstairs flirting with the mailroom staff. If needed to do a little overtime when things were desperate, Pest always refused. The day Queen Pest asked for a raise, she was sure her magick was working. The awakening was a rude one. Her boss informed her she was lucky to still be on the payroll. Even at that, his patience with her was fading quickly.

Bum Bob wanted to attract a little romance in his life. He cast spells to that end. However, Bob had a few glaring habits that repelled women. He was the most foul-mouthed person any of us had met. It was not just the amount of profanity, but the subject matter as well. Bob was also incredibly cheap, and he dressed the part. One might say that bum Bob was the male equivalent of a frump. His spells must have done something, because women would get within range. Once Bum Bob opened that sewer can of a mouth, however, the ladies hastily exited,

These are extreme examples. I doubt you are as stench-prone as Stinko, as lax as Queen Pest or as putridly foul as Bob. Nonetheless, their extreme example illustrates one of the major reasons why spells fail. A spell can only work for you if you work with it. Should your actions be counterproductive to the spell, you are unlikely to get favorable results. The positive power of magick combined with your negative actions can cancel each other out. Look at the example of Queen Pest. Could it be that her magick may be the only thing that had kept her from being fired?

I like a Quaker expression: “When you pray, move your feet.” In other words, do something. Take actions that will support your magick, and vice versa. Make sure that what you do is in accord with the spells you cast. For example, if you want a new job, then make sure you are presentable at interviews. If you want a raise, make sure you are worth it. If you want to meet folks, be considerate and polite. All the magick will not overcome bad ingrained habits.

On a less extreme note, do what you can to support your spells. If looking for work, dress and act appropriately at interviews. Have your resume and your references ready. If looking for love, polish your manners and your appearance. Polish the vocabulary, too. For opportunity, have something to offer. Take stock of yourself, and you will likely find that you have more assets than you realized. Bring these to the forefront and watch you opportunities grow. Boosted with magick, they grow even more. Whatever you are doing magickly, support it with action.

We started with a negative example because it is so bizarre that it illustrates the point. What you might not know is that most people are already moving in a positive direction when they cast a spell. They actions may be small, but they are in support of the magick,. The chances of success increase when you add to your actions. It is like a combination in boxing. Instead of hitting target with one punch, you hit with a battery of them.

When casting a spell, ask yourself: “What else am I doing to get the desired result?”

            Magick plus action means success.
